Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
15 minute horror/suspense shows
Born to great riches, talented and handsome until
we see the final dissolution of this unhappy being. Who sought to
split his soul in twain and assume a separate identity for each
side of his dual nature. The one entirely good the other completely
First written in 1886 by Robert Louis Stevenson, The Strange Case
of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde became a success immediately. Within
1 year of its publication the story was made into a play, and into
a movie in 1908, 1913, and a very famous film in 1920 starring Lionel
Barrymore. The story is well known: a scientist, Mr. Hyde, creates
a potion and separates his personalities. The good side of his nature
is Dr. Jekyll, while his evil tendencies become the horrific Mr.
Hyde. This is one of the earliest Old Time Radio programs available,
first airing in 1932. Not only is it one of the earliest, but it
is also complete, containing all 53 episodes. The radio program
stars George Edwards, is adapted for radio by Betty Roland and fleshes
the Stevenson story.
All of our Old Time Radio Programs are in MP3 format. You
can play them on your computer, you can transfer them to MP3
players (like the IPod), but, by and large, you cannot play
them on stereos, walkmen, or car radios.
The sound quality of Old Time Radio Programs can vary greatly.
Some episodes are excellent, others you have to turn up the
volume a little and ignore the static. All of the episodes can
be listened to and enjoyed. You can listen to our free samples
to get a feel for how the programs sound.
